Its advantages are:<\/p>\n<ul><li>Wear resistance<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Toughness<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The possibility of being modelled<\/strong> into complex shapes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>As a result of these characteristics, it is used in a wide range of tools and applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Coating – CVD<\/h3>\nCVD stands for chemical vapour deposition.<\/strong><\/p>\nCVD coatings are characterised by:<\/p>\n<ul><li>High wear resistance<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Excellent carbide adhesion.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>More specifically:<\/p>\n<ul><li>Titanium carbonitride CVD<\/strong> coatings have good abrasion wear resistance<\/strong>, resulting in reduced wear to the flank<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Alumina CVD<\/strong> coatings have a good resistance to crater wear<\/strong> and can be used as a thermal barrier to increase plastic deformation resistance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Titanium nitride CVD<\/strong> coatings offer the best wear resistance<\/strong> and are also used to detect wear<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>CVD coatings are mainly used for<\/strong> applications where wear resistance is a key factor<\/strong>, such as general turning<\/strong>, steel boring<\/strong>, turning<\/strong> and milling<\/strong> stainless steels.<\/p>\n<h3>Coating – PVD<\/h3>\nPVD coatings are coatings obtained by physical vapour deposition<\/strong>.
