The world of tools is immense; in fact, there are numerous varieties of different tools. Tools can first be differentiated into:

    • Standard: i.e. the most frequently-used tools without specific specifications.
    • Customised special tools: tools built according to the client’s specific requests.

At TOMMASIN, you can find both types of tools, in order to satisfy both those who quickly need a common tool and those in need of a tool built ad hoc according to their needs.

    Why do tools vary?

Tools vary based on three main conditions:

    • The type of machining the tool must perform, such as:
      • Drilling
      • Milling
      • Chamfering
      • Reaming
      • Threading
      • Mechanical fixing
    • The type of material to be processed, such as:
      • Steel
      • Aluminium
      • Carbon
      • Cast iron
      • Brass
      • Plastic
      • Titanium
      • Rubber
      • Plexiglass

What changes from one tool to another?

Depending on these conditions, which affect the physical, chemical and usability characteristics of the tool, the following may vary:

    • Cutting geometries, i.e. the shapes and sizes of the main elements that make up the tool.
    • Cutting parameters, i.e. the depth, feed rate and cutting speed of the tool.
    • Materials and coatings used to create tools. At TOMMASIN, we boast a full range of PCD, carbide and braze-welded tools.

The tolerance ranges, i.e. a numeric range, between a maximum value and a minimum value, that the size of the piece can assume.
